PEDAL FOR AFRICA
21st APRIL 2018
A great initiative led by our very own Riders of Shaam member, Shabir Patel. Choose from either Birmingham or Leicester as your start location and cycle an epic 160 miles all the way to the Welsh capital, Cardiff. This ride is for the elite and experienced although if you feel you can take on this challenge join here now.
The bike ride will take place the weekend before World Water Day 2018, which is celebrated by charities and fundraisers across the globe on Thursday, 22 March.
Dirty water kills
Three children die every minute from diseases associated with contaminated water. It is at the heart of a daily crisis faced by millions of Africa’s most vulnerable families.
This is literally your opportunity to change lives – by providing a reliable source of fresh water to a rural village community in Africa you’ll solve a number of problems in one fell swoop by raising funds to help build a Solar Panel Water and Power Center, a purpose-built project that provides water and electricity to entire communities.
Pedal for Africa has been organised after an eye opening visit to water poverty-stricken communities in Africa, by members of the Riders of Shaam team. Villages of need have been identified, and the riders have pledged to make a difference. Your small change can help transform many lives, so please donate as much or as little as you can.
